CV Analysis

In this day and age, resumes are still the most important upfront checking tool, however with the exponential growth of online social media you can get more and more background information about your candidates. So, what should you look for and where do you start?

Obviously, when you scan resumes it should give you a good overall impression of your candidates. When you dive deeper into candidates' CV’s that fit your job requirements, this is what to look for:

  • Are described roles, achievements and responsibilities overstated and seem to be achievable in the total years worked?
  • Why is the candidate leaving the company or looking for a new role, is it covering up poor performance or a dispute?
  • Did the candidate directly manage them and was this in an acting capacity only?
  • Are financial achievements highly exaggerated?
  • Did the candidate complete all qualifications or degrees?
  • Screen through stated hobbies, ignore pictures
  • Only put emphasis on certification that are relevant to the role
