Facebook profile tips

With more than 350 million people, Facebook has become the largest online social network. Facebook is expanding its features to connect job seekers and recruiters. And the power of social networks is simply: People who are friends with your friends will be more likely to trust you, because that simple connection increases your legitimacy and integrity.

  • Regularly check mutual friends: you may discover connections you didn’t know you had which may lead into valuable job opportunities
  • Be careful with your personal settings and how much you share in your public profile or even with close friends as recruiters will find you through your friends as well (check Facebook’s privacy settings).
  • Obviously, basic information should be kept public such as education, work, etc., however what you say and show on your wall can tell much more about what you like on a day-to-day basis and will give recruiters insight in your personality,
  • Get connected with groups discussing topics in your area of expertise or your passions
  • Check job advertisements
